Deputy Sheriff

Deputies ensure that the laws of Sarasota
County and the State of Florida are administered; They are responsible for
patrolling designated zones of the county to prevent crime and preserve law and
order.
Deputies conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, complete
reports, identify and locate witnesses, make arrests, and testify in court.
Starting Salary
$35,000 Recruit
$40,000 1st class upon Florida state
certification
*Salary
adjusted up to $44,995 for approved/accepted prior experience.
Corrections Deputy
Maintain physical custody of prisoners within
the Sarasota County Jail including the processing and classifying of new
prisoners, administering first aid, feeding, clothing, inspection of cells,
supervising trustees, transporting prisoners to and from physicians and
dentists for medical treatment, moving prisoners to and from court as required,
transporting prisoners both intra and inter state at which time wearing of a
firearm is required, act as Bailiff in court during periods of unusual court
activity, conduct lineups and interviews. Rotating shifts every 12
months. Officers are occasionally required to wear air pack or
respirator.
Successful applicants will attend the
Criminal Justice Academy for certification as employees of the Sarasota County
Sheriff's Office.

$34,000 – Recruit
$39,680 1st Class upon Florida State certification - based upon 12 hour shifts
Communications
Operator
Answer emergency and non-emergency
telephones.
Operators must listen and accurately record information
provided by citizens, police, fire and medical personal and be able to
accurately relay this information to the appropriate personnel. They are
often called upon to make decisions quickly, accurately and effectively.
An Operator must be self-motivated and work well as part of a team. To be a
successful Operator you must be able to perform multiple tasks.

Civil Process Server
Duties
- Serve civil process papers in a timely and professional
manner.
- Conduct limited inquiries to determine location of
persons to be served.
- Prepare route schedule for service of process.
Starting Salary
Salary $24,938.

Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to understand and implement court orders or
instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage daily work
activities efficiently.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and
written, demonstrating an awareness for human diversity to citizens and
colleagues.
- Knowledge of geographical jurisdiction.
- Possess valid Florida driver’s license to operate
department-issued vehicle.
